The challenge
Recently, eFinancialCareers reached out to Cloud Bridge to gain a deeper understanding of their current IT infrastructure and start modifying and building workloads in adherence to AWS best practices.
The solution
Cloud Bridge is an Advanced AWS partner, which means it is trained and certified by AWS to carry out Well-Architected Framework Reviews (WAFRs). The experienced team has in-depth knowledge and expertise in designing and operating architectures against these six pillars of best practice - operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, cost optimisation, and sustainability.
A review of apps and workloads against these pillars can help identify cost savings, optimise performance, scalability and resiliency; and reduce business risk. As well as providing access to additional tools and resources to deliver these reviews as efficiently as possible, an Advanced Partner can also provide guidance on how to implement changes in a structured manner, minimising disruption to business operations.
The benefits
A WAFR review of eFinancialCareers infrastructure uncovered numerous opportunities for improvement in the Security and Reliability pillars, highlighting the potential for enhanced performance and robustness. Cloud Bridge proposed a remediation plan that prioritised the next steps for addressing areas of concern. By implementing changes to improve system performance and reduce costs, eFinancialCareers has seen increased operational efficiency and reduced downtime.
Cloud Bridge's guidance has also helped eFinancialCareers to achieve a more secure and compliant system that can withstand disruptions or failures. This was done by leveraging the Center for Internet Security (CIS) AWS Foundations Benchmark to create a set of service configurations and established thresholds that notify eFinancialCareers in the event of a security breach. Additionally, resources that lacked backup configurations were identified, and Cloud Bridge provided guidance and scripts for implementing backup configurations across all resources.
Cloud Bridge further enhanced the audit process of eFinancialCareers’s exising infrastructure by enabling strategic logging and monitoring of necessary AWS services – this enabled the identification and mitigation of potential security threats.
To further enhance eFinancialCareers's resilience and availability, Cloud Bridge recommended the implementation of Health Checks to AutoScaling Groups.
These combined changes have led to a reduction in cloud spend through improved cost controls, and reliability has improved with systems that are highly available and can withstand disruptions or failures.
