CYJAX aggregates data from across the internet, social media, and darknet marketplaces to deliver actionable insights to enterprises and government entities.

Given their role in helping organisations anticipate and defend against sophisticated cyber threats, CYJAX requires an IT environment that is secure, resilient, and scalable by design.

The Challenge: Modernising for Security and Scale

CYJAX needed to migrate its aging on-premises infrastructure to AWS to support future growth and deliver services with greater agility. However, earlier attempts had been slowed by delays and technical challenges. For an organisation working in the cybersecurity space, this migration couldn’t just be a “lift and shift” - it needed to be secure, automated, and built for resilience from day one.

• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) → repeatable, automated deployments with full version control.
• Serverless Compute (AWS ECS Fargate) → scalable, patch-free containerised workloads across multiple Availability Zones.
• Reliable Databases (Amazon RDS) → managed, multi-AZ database services.
• Security by Design → a multi-account Landing Zone for governance and isolation, plus a hub-and-spoke networking model with AWS Transit Gateway and Network Firewall for centralised inspection of all traffic.
• CI/CD Automation (GitLab) → pipelines enabling faster, consistent deployments with auditable history.
• Unified Observability (Amazon CloudWatch) → replacing legacy monitoring tools with actionable, low-noise visibility into systems and applications.

Execution was guided by a detailed migration runbook, covering everything from Terraform deployments to DNS cutover and staging validations. This disciplined approach ensured predictability, transparency, and control at every step.

• Engineering Agility → GitLab CI/CD pipelines have greatly shortened deployment times, enabling new services to be provisioned far faster than the manual server setup process.
• Cost Efficiency → With infrastructure now rightsized, over-provisioning has been eliminated, significantly reducing ongoing infrastructure spend.
